Hanging out at the chiang rai white temple is a pretty great experience for a budget traveler passing through Northern Thailand. Not only is the temple itself a popular religious center and tourism destination, but the whole surrounding area is really worth spending time in to explore. Chiang Mai and to a lesser extent Chiang Rai are incrdibly popular areas for foreigners looking to settle in Thailand to end up. A friendly local community and smaller number of tourists than places like Bangkok or the major beach towns mean that the area isn’t quite so westernized, but the size of the cities make enough of a market that many of the comforts of home can be found.

A good selection of camping recipes at hand is essential when planning the menu for a longer trekking adventure. Carrying standard dehydrated backpacking food may be the easiest option, of course, but that stuff gets very old very quickly and besides that the huge levels of salt in each meal mean the cumulative effect over the whole trip can add up to quite a lot of work for one’s kidneys. With a good repertoire of menus ready to bust out at a moment’s notice, you can eat extremely well and healthily with minimal weight and inconvenience. Isn’t that worth a bit of research before you leave?

Most adventure travel blogs these days seem to focus on well known and quite frankly overdone locales from which to plan their adventures. Places like the ski resorts of Colorado see plenty of action packed Go Pro videos, but where are the true explorers left in the world? We say, get out there and see the world! Find forgotten corners and make them famous once more! Go skiing in Iran, ride a motorcycle through the back roads of Africa, or conquer the Siberian taiga! Any adventure is a good adventure, of course, but we’d like to see a lot more exposure to the rest of the world and less of those favorite hotspots that have seen so much exposure!

Some more affordable hotels are available too. If you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, there are a number of good hotels at normal prices too. The thing to look out for, as usual, is location, price, convenience, and so on. Here are some good hotels in Dubai from www.dubaiapartments.biz:
The Rimal Rotona Dubai – Very near the airport and pretty convenient. Reasonable prices and a wonderful location. Good for anyone who wants to catch those early flights back home – not far from the city though.
The Landmark Plaza Hotel – This hotel is right in the center of the shopping district. Very convenient for anyone interested in spending some time enjoying the city without worrying about getting too far from a comfortable hotel to get back to. The Taj Palace Hotel – A 5 star hotel in Dubai that is not out of reach for the average tourist! Even if you only stay one night here before moving on to a different hotel, you will never forget it! So there are hotels in Dubai that will fit anyone’s budget and requirements. Hotels for families, couples, business people, there are accommodations suitable for everyone coming to Dubai. Even if you don’t stay in one of the 5 star hotels, you’ll still LOVE the view of them.

One of the highlights of any trip to Tajikistan has to be the spectacular mountains of the country and the traditional cultures that still exist deep within those mountains. No matter which range of mountains you visit or which valley within those mountains you decide to explore, you will inevitable find remote villages where the men still ride around on donkeys and approach with a handshake and a smile and an offer to join them for a cup of tea. Very few places in the world still maintain that level of open courtesy to strangers as guests, but the pamir mountains in Tajikistan are especially known for it. No matter where you go in these mountains that occupy the east half of Tajikistan, you’ll find towering mountain peaks and embracing local hospitality. In this part of the world, accepting a stranger into your home is something generally done without so much as batting an eye. After all, once you’ve sat with someone to drink tea and break bread and stuggle over language difficulties they’re not really a stranger any more! This seems to hold doubly true in the little corner of the Pamirs known as the wakhan corridor. Having traveled there personally, I can comment on the sheer number of invitation we had to tea on a daily basis. Even though we knew it was rude, we sometimes had to turn down invitations for tea just so that we could keep moving and cover some ground for the day! Otherwise, we would have had to stay in the area fo rmonths to drink tea with each family who offered and still cover the walking distance to get from one end of the valley to the other. The cultures where hospitality is such a strong tradition, though, are a really wonderful thing to behold and an excellent reason to travel through the Wakhan and Pamirs in Tajikistan!

Whenever we hear a backpacker’s tale, all we remember later is how wonderful the trip was (well, sometimes, it may go horribly as well) but I am sure you miss out the advice, the backpacker’s tale carried. The things that they did wrong or something they did not do, should be carefully listened to. Any experience of a destination is not just based on the beauty of the place or the things to do; there is no doubt that little things matter. Remember to plan your trip well in advance and plan it well but be flexible. Pack all the accessories which are needed and pack wisely. You need to check details about the destination to decide what you need. Carry enough money and take along a pouch, to carry your valuables, including documents and money, safely close to you. Loosen up and enjoy but be safe.
